Youth Engagement (Advocacy)

ADVOCATE FOR HIS COMMUNITY (SAFE DRINKING WATER)

Youth are not only an extremely valuable resource of energy, good will and creativity, but also the key to our future. In a culture that is so wrapped around ‘wants’ and ‘achievements,’ it is easy for our youths to grow up without a sense of gratitude for what they have and empathy for the needs of the less fortunate around them. Volunteering in community service projects and helping others can be very fulfilling, and if you can show your teen how enriching it is from a young age, they’ll start to make an association between helping someone else and their own joy.

Youth volunteering has been on a steady rise since the we have started this programe (youthand dreams). Research has shown that youths and teens who engage in community service are more responsible with higher self-esteem and resilience. Volunteering helps the teens gain new skills necessary for the job market such as leadership, communication skills, dependability, time management, and decision making.

This is how Com. Lugard Nzomboha Pwaboroshi advocate for safety drinking water in wayam community.

"WAYAM RENOVATED COMMUNITY BOREHOLE A DISASTER.

Let me start by acknowledging our distinguished Stakeholders in Wayam community who saw it as a need to call upon the attention of The Member Representing Numan constituency Adamawa state house of Assembly to come to the aide of our community that are battling with Lack of Water for Donkey years.

Secondly I will also appreciate the Hon member who bow down to the Clarion call of our Stakeholders by doing the needful in Renovating the community BOREHOLE,  in  this regard I say a big thank you on behalf of my community.

During the renovation of this Borehole I can remember meeting the Senior stakeholder in the community  Comr Sika at his home to tell him that the building which the overhead tank was to be placed on need pillars to support it and I believe he spoke to them about it.  Few days later the Newly renovated BOREHOLE crashed down without any wind or Rain.
The borehole was ignored and technocrats in the community made a construction so that the borehole can still be functioning since it is the only source of water in the whole community.

Now a big container is kept where the pipe bringing out the water is situated, when this container is full everyone will put in his/her rubber or anything that can be use to transfer the water to their containers in other to fetch the water, This act alone has contaminate the water thereby disqualifying the water from being drinkable because no one knows where  the other person bring his bucket or rubber from.

From my Little investigation this week 85% of people fetching this water are drinking the water despite the contamination because they can't afford to steadily buy pure water for their households.
Little children and adults are now being diagnosed of Typhoid and the major cause is the Water in the community.

Meanwhile the only healthy and drinkable water in the community is the one Constructed by our Former Member Hon Sodom Tayedi which is located at LCCN WAYAM.  God bless you Ma'am.

With a soft and humble Heart I request that the authorities concern should try and fix  the borehole again so that the water can come out from the constructed Taps,  by doing so the water can become healthy to the usage of the community.

We will be grateful as a community if this Borehole is fixed and also the one located at the main road should also be renovated to avoid large crowd in the borehole located at the Market Arena.

#GETWAYAMFIXED

Thank You!!
